Get ready for some Regatta fun.

What’s on.

We are delighted once again to be hosting at Henley Royal Regatta 2019 on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th July.

The rowing starts bright and early at 8:30am and our private VIP pavilion opens at 9:30am, so feel free to plan your arrival anytime after that. Our hospitality will start to wind down from about 6.00 pm and the pavilion closes at 7:00pm (which is also the time of the last race of the day). There are between 70 to 80 races each day and up-to-the-minute racing results are provided over the public address system.

Our hospitality timings

  • Light breakfast from 9:30am
  • Sumptuous buffet Lunch between 12:30pm
  • Indulgent afternoon tea at 3:00pm

Our bar will be serving a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks throughout the day. Please email events@poweredbypie.co.uk in advance with any special dietary requirements.

There will be games and entertainment during the day and of course good company.

Tickets

Entrance is by invitation ‘guest list’ only, so official tickets are not required for this event. Upon arrival, a member of our team will provide you with a wristband which gains access to the VIP enclosure. Please ensure you wear your wristband all day to avoid embarrassing entanglements with security.

Race Timings

Precise race timings vary with the number of entries received but in recent years the following general pattern has proved fairly consistent:

Day First race Last race Approximate number of races
Thursday 8.30am 7.25pm 80 Heats
Friday 8.30am 7.20pm 67 Quarter-finals

Dress code.

Our pavilion is situated within the VIP area, which is a great spot. Our dress code is more relaxed than the steward’s enclosure, so our advice is to dress comfortably as you would perhaps for a summer wedding or a garden party.

Please no jeans, shorts, denim or trainers.

Ladies: Hats and fascinators are optional, skirt length is not specified, and please remember you will mainly be walking on grass.

Gentlemen: Suits, blazers and ties are not compulsory, but are preferred. We do ask for shirts rather than t-shirts please.

Location.

Our private VIP pavilion is situated opposite Temple Island (close to the start of the races), about a mile from Henley town centre.

We have our own picket-fenced garden area providing fantastic views of the rowing. There is also direct access to the towpath from the VIP enclosure.

The address is: Temple Island Meadows, Remenham, Henley-on-Thames, RG9 3DB

Please note this postcode will take you beyond the main entrance into the village so do not follow a Sat Nav all the way to the end.

Travel.

By Train

This is by far the best way to travel to the Regatta. We will be collecting our guests from Twyford train station roughly every 30 minutes with minibuses driven by members of our team. When you arrive at Tywford train station from the direction of Reading, please walk over the footbridge to the HURST ROAD exit where our minibuses will meet you.

When you know what train you are on, it would be great if you could please message Andy Stradling on 07775 444 402. We will endeavour to ensure that no-one waits longer than necessary for a lift, but at peak times, and depending on traffic congestion, this may be longer.

Twyford Train station is operated by GWR and is accessible from London Paddington, Oxford and Bristol. It is also only 6 minutes by train from Reading. Please wait for a representative from poweredbypie to meet you at the station.

By Car

Henley-on-Thames becomes extremely congested during the Regatta, but if you intend to drive then parking is available at Gate A – Meadows car park. Please note spaces are limited. You can reserve your space here.

There is a one-way system in place when you reach Remenham Lane and Remenham Church Lane. Please therefore follow the one-way system to your Gate and only use Sat Nav directions until you reach White Hill/A4130.

By Taxi

Your taxi can drop off / collect at Gate A. The address is Temple Island Meadows, Remenham, Henley-on-Thames, RG9 3DB.

On Foot

Our pavilion is approximately one mile from the town centre and can be accessed along the towpath. Follow the signs for the VIP enclosure. It’s a pleasant stroll if the weather’s nice and there’s lots to see on the way, but ladies, please remember that a mile is a long way in heels!

Return Journeys

Our minibus service will operate return trips to Twyford train station in accordance with demand, running every 30 minutes between 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Please let us know in advance if you are pre-booked onto a train, or if you have an ideal departure time from Henley and we will do our very best to ensure you catch your train.

Hotels

As you would expect, the hotels in and around Henley are extremely busy during the Regatta. If you would like help booking a hotel, please contact events@poweredbypie.co.uk with your dates and budget and we will assist you in finding suitable accommodation and organise your transportation from the hotel to the Regatta.
